We’re excited to announce a brand-new 2-in-1 event day for 2026 to celebrate Lanimer week on Sat 13th June — 1-Point Slam tournament and Doubles tournament — for a full day of fun and competitive tennis at Lanark Tennis Club.
The day will be split into two fantastic sessions, giving members plenty of opportunity to get involved.
Morning Event: 1-Point Slam
10am – 12 noon (approx.)
🎾 1-Point Slam Explained – Can You Win It in One Shot?
Not sure what the 1-Point Slam is? It’s simple… Every match is decided by just ONE point.
That’s it. One rally. One winner. One player through to the next round.
How It Works:
• Singles knockout format
• Spin of the racket decides who serves
• Two serves allowed
• Play out the point as normal
• Winner of the point goes through
Because it’s only one point, anyone can beat anyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re a regular league player or just enjoy social tennis — everyone competes in the same draw. This is about nerve, focus and a bit of luck.
🏆 And yes — there is a genuine trophy for the champion.
On the Day
• Warm up from 10am
• Draw made on arrival – you’ll pick your tournament number
• Order of play decided once everyone has registered
The more players we have, the more matches, the more drama and the more fun.
Even if singles isn’t normally your thing, this format makes it exciting and completely unpredictable.
We’d also encourage you to stay for the doubles event which follows straight after.
You have to be in it to win it.
Afternoon Event: Fun Doubles Tournament
12 noon – 4pm (approx.)
The afternoon will move into a relaxed and sociable doubles tournament, with pairs drawn on the day.

• Open to all ages
• Pairs organised on the day
Depending on entries we intend to run mixed doubles tournament, but the organisers reserve the right to change the competition, for example to allow men’s/women’s only pairings, depending on the balance between the genders. Format to be confirmed based on number of entries.
This is designed to be enjoyable, inclusive and social — with plenty of tennis throughout the afternoon.
Members are encouraged to bring along their own refreshments, including drinks (soft or alcohol) and nibbles, to help create a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere. Note that no nuts are allowed in the Club due to allergy restrictions.
Both tournaments promise to provide a fantastic day combining friendly competition and social tennis. Whether you join for the morning knockout slam, the afternoon doubles, or both, we’d love to see as many members as possible taking part.
Entry fee: £2 (covers both morning and afternoon events, even if you only attend one).
